Volunteers Needed For Wreath Laying At Valley Forge

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (CBS) - Valley Forge National Historical Park needs volunteers to help with the park's participation in a national event to honor the nation's veterans.

This is the first time Valley Forge Park will participate in Wreaths Across America and will be one of the 500 locations across the country that will hold a wreath laying ceremony Saturday as a way to remember, honor and teach about the services and sacrifices of Americans veterans.

"The 2,000 wreaths are being put up to honor the over 2,000 men and women who died at Valley Forge during the encampment of 1777-1778.  Mostly from disease, of course, there wasn't a battle at Valley Forge, but disease took its toll," said Don Naimoli, chairperson of Friends of Valley Forge Park.

Volunteers are needed both Friday and Saturday morning at Valley Forge Park.  Call Ernestine White at 610-783-5384 to volunteer.
