St. Francis De Sales Orchestra To Perform First Concert

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - More than 80 students at a West Philadelphia parochial school will join together on Saturday to give their first orchestra concert, thanks to a program by the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra.

Students at the St. Francis de Sales School picked up their instruments for the first time in September as part of the "Tune Up Philly" program.  As part of that program, students spend two hours every day after school learning the violin, cello, trumpet, and other instruments, all in preparation for a full concert this Saturday.

"I'm really excited because I want to show people that I'm really good at playing an instrument," said Nwai, a second-grader who plays the violin.

Fourth-grader Ashley plays the violin and said she hopes everybody does their best and plays well.
