Police Search For Possible Serial Strangler In Kensington

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police now believe an attack on a woman in the 1800 block of E. Sergeant St. in Kensington early Monday morning may have been the work of the Kensington strangler.

Over the past three weeks, the strangler is suspected of killing two women and sexually assaulting four others, who all managed to survive.

Elaine Goldberg, 21, was murdered November 3rd, less than a mile from where 35-year-old Nicole Piacentini was killed on November 13th.

Police say the latest victim, who was dragged into an alley, beaten and assaulted before escaping, was able to provide a description of her attacker, which led to police releasing a composite sketch.

It is very similar to another sketch with information provided by an earlier victim.

Posters offering a $3,000 reward have now been posted by one victim's family along Kensington Avenue.

Homicide investigators say, so far, they are not linking a third strangulation murder inside a Juniata Park apartment last Friday to the strangler.
