Philly Homegrown Tour Launches At The End Of The Month

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Those with a taste for local food can sample the best of Philadelphia with walking tours of some of the city's local food hotspots.

The newly created Philly Homegrown Tour will run on three Saturdays, beginning November 27th, and include samples of harvest-inspired foods from some of the city's locally-produced food hotspots.

Karen Gross, spokesperson for City Food Tours, says this is the perfect occasion to think local, "There's been a lot of talk and a lot of buzz in the media about farm to table and buying fresh and local and, on this tour, this really offers a really great selection of what Philadelphia and Philadelphia's dining destinations and markets have to offer."

Philly Homegrown is an initiative by the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation to promote the region's 100-mile food shed.
