Corbett Begins Plans For Transition, Governing

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) -- Tom Corbett on Wednesday held his first question and answer session with capitol reporters since being elected governor last week.

As he held a news conference to announce members of his transition team, Governor-elect Tom Corbett said he still believes he can balance the state budget despite a multi-billion dollar deficit.

"I remain confident. I said it throughout the period of the campaign, that I think there's money to be saved within the budget. I would direct your attention to the various audits, to begin with, that Auditor General Jack Wagner has presented."

One of Wagner's audits shows errors in the administration of Medicaid, and he says a ten-percent reduction in the error rate would save the Commonwealth $436 million dollars in the next fiscal year. Among the members of Corbett's transition team are Philadelphia attorneys Bill Sasso and Charles Kopp and Montgomery County businessman Bob Asher.
