Philly Schools Compare Notes On How To Eat Healthier

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - How do you get Philadelphia school students to live a healthier lifestyle?  That's the issue being kicked around by 200 Philadelphia schools.

Philly schoolkids are trying to find ways to eat healthier in school and at the corner store -- and to be more active throughout the day.

Bettyann Creighton, school district director of health, safety and physical education, outlines some of the things schools are doing:

"Healthy fundraisers, as opposed to candy sales all the time. We can take a look at the foods that we use for classroom parties. We can take a look at movement breaks so that kids aren't sitting for such a long period of time."

School representatives met last night at the Kensington CAPA High School, and they started putting together health improvement plans, so they could apply for $1000 CDC mini-grants to help put their plans into action.
