(CBS) – With election day just over two weeks away, one of Pennsylvania’s gubernatorial candidates has picked up a newspaper endorsement.
The Harrisburg daily newspaper, the Patriot-News, announced it’s endorsement of Tom Corbett for governor in its Sunday edition. The paper noted Corbett’s promise not to raise taxes, and the attorney general’s investigation of corruption in the legislature. But it added that the no-tax pledge may be unrealistic.
Until now, the two gubernatorial candidates have racked up endorsements from unions, professional associations, and other groups.
Democrat Dan Onorato has endorsements from the AFL-CIO, Education Voters of Pennsylvania, and Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania.
Corbett’s list of endorsers includes the National Rifle Association, the Pennsylvania State Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation.
