Cheers, Jeers May Await Pat 'The Bat' Burrell In Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Saturday's start of the National League Championship Series marks the playoff return of a former Phillie fan favorite.

Pat Burrell spent nine years in left field for the Phillies, leaving as a free agent after the championship '08 season.  He comes back to Citizens Bank Park, now as a member of the San Francisco Giants.  Does he get cheers or boos?

Phillie fan Al Brown of Woodbury Heights, NJ said Burrell will be welcomed  -- at first:

(Brown:)  "He'll definitely get cheered.  He got cheered earlier in the season when he came back.  And I think that the same praise will be there for the playoffs."

(DeNardo:)  "And if I'm not wrong, he hit a home run in his first at bat!"

(Brown:)  "Yes he did, yeah."

(DeNardo:)  "And then he got booed!"

(Brown:)  "Yeah! Ha ha."

Brown pointed out that Burrell had a home run and knocked in three runs in Game One of the Division Series, so he's still a dangerous hitter.

Reported by KYW's Mike Denardo.
