Woman Struck, Killed By SEPTA Bus In North Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia Police say an elderly woman was killed when she was struck by a route 33 SEPTA bus in North Philadelphia Thursday evening.

Police say the accident happened at 22nd Street and Lehigh Avenue at about 5:30 p.m. The woman was declared dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.

Investigators say the bus was going through a green light at the intersection when the victim was hit by the side of the bus and she slid under its wheels. Eyewitnesses said the victim was dragged by the bus.

No other injuries were reported.

SEPTA officials are investigating whether the weather may have played a role in the deadly accident.

SEPTA says it's still investigating and could offer no further details.
