Knight Foundation Giving Grants for Great Arts Ideas

The Knight Foundation is offering millions of dollars in grant money to anyone in Philadelphia who has a great idea for the arts.

KYW's Karin Phillips reports that Philadelphia is only the second city in the country where the Knight Foundation has established its Arts Challenge, offering $9-million in grant money to groups or individuals who come up with the most innovative ideas to inspire arts in Philadelphia.

Arts institutions can apply, but the Challenge is especially interested in those who are not traditional grant seekers.  Dennis Scholl is vice president of arts for the Knight Foundation:

"There are no restrictions on who can apply.  You can be an independent artist, you can be even be a business or a service organization.  All you have to do is give us your best art idea."

Applications will be accepted beginning October 5th at www.KnightArts.org.
