A local bank is sponsoring a special tent at the Doylestown Arts Festival on Saturday to give people to chance to send gifts of appreciation to US troops overseas.

KYW’s Karin Phillips reports that Firstrust Bank has sponsored the Doylestown Arts Festival for a number of years. Firstrust Bank president Tim Abell:

“But we thought that this year, with it being on the anniversary of 9/11, that it would be nice to do something special for the armed forces. So we decided to get people to come and put gift baskets together.”

He says the so-called Soldier Snacks goodie bags will contain some comforts from home like chewing gum and candy, hand lotion and sunscreen. There will also be stationary available so people can include notes of appreciation.

Abell says it’s hoped the effort will produce at least 500 of the gift baskets. The Firstrust tent will be located along Main Street at the Doylestown Art Festival from 11am to 4pm.
