PHA Looks for 'Interim' Replacement for Carl Greene

The Philadelphia Housing Board of Commissioners is looking through names to get an 'interim replacement' for executive director Carl Greene.

KYW's Steve Tawa reports while Greene is out of the Commonwealth getting medical treatment, former mayor John Street, the board chairman, says the PHA is looking for an interim executive director:

"We can't have these people operating this organization with no oversight by the board in the absence of an executive director and a final decision on the status of Carl Greene."

But last week, on the very day Greene was suspended for 30-days with pay, HUD deputy secretary Ron Sims urged street to freeze all personnel decisions, 'given the importance of the ongoing audit and the sensitivity of the allegations facing PHA and its leadership.'

"I really don't believe finding somebody to come in and provide that kind of supervision violates the letter or spirit of that letter."

PHA board members say they want to give Greene 'due process' by conducting their own investigation into four separate sexual harassment cases against Greene, and how they were handled.
