Detectives with the Philadelphia police Special Victims Unit are investigating an attempted sexual assault in the Holmesburg section of the city. And they believe it may be one in a series of attacks by the same man.

KYW’s Jim Melwert reports that at about 12:30 am Tuesday, near the 8300 block of Frankford Avenue (above), police say a naked man jumped out of the woods of Pennypack Park and tried to drag a woman into the dark. (see previous story) A school police officer heard the screams and the man ran off.
But after pouring over several cases in the area, Special Victims captain John Darby says they found two other very similar cases in the same area — one happened in May of this year, the other from last July.
“We feel comfortable that this male could very well have perpetrated all three of these crimes, dating back over a year.”
In all three cases, the man was completely naked as he approached the women. He’s described as a white man, in his 30s, about 6-2, 200 pounds, muscular build, pale-skinned with short light brown or blond hair.
Captain Darby says they’re working on a composite sketch and adds, at this point, there’s no DNA evidence to link the three cases.
Anyone with any information, no matter how trivial it may seem, is asked to call police.
