Positively Philadelphia: Things to Do On the Delaware

by KYW's Lauren Lipton

In just a couple of weeks, we'll be back in the fall whirlwind, but there are still lots of fun things to do before we get there.

Some of them are right around the corner, according to Patrick Starr, senior vice-president of the Environmental Council:

"If you're familiar with the Tacony Palmyra bridge, at the base of the bridge in Burlington County, on the Jersey side is a wonderdul place called the Palmyra Cove Nature Center. This is a fabulous facility with a  great, interpretive museum that talks about the bridge, talks about the river and its ecology. There are also footpaths and a beach."

Wait a minute, a beach? Here?

"There's an actual sand beach on the Delaware River. People are out there with blankets, and having picnics. It's an amazing place."

It's not too late to Paddle Penns Landing, a kayak program in an enclosed marina.

"We will help you get into the kayak and you'll have 20 minutes to paddle around the boat base and it's really a cool perspective."

And if you just want to take a walk...

"Right in Philadelphia, Penn Treaty Park, little known, so amaizng is the mouth of Pennypack Park, Neshaminy State Park in Bucks County.

"And one place that I think is little known and just so amazing when you go there is the mouth of Pennypack Park, in Northeast Philadelphia."

So much fun to have, so little time. You can learn about all the many hotspots at the web site tidaltrail.org.

That's Positively Philadelphia!
