Phase II at Parx

A month after gamblers started playing table games at Parx Casino in Bensalem, Pa., the Bucks County gambling hall is looking at another expansion project for the near future -- and then a long-term master plan that includes some significant growth.

KYW's Brad Segall reports that the casino's owner, Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, is expected to go before the Bensalem Council later this month to show off plans for a 90,000-square-foot expansion of the main building.

In mid-July the gaming hall put nearly 60 table games in operation (see related news story), and now they're looking to add more tables to the casino floor for Asian games, plus full-service poker and baccarat.

That's short term.  What does the long term look like? Carrie Nork Minelli is a spokeswoman for the casino:

"Dining is huge part of the next expansion, nightlife, and then an overall master plan which is a little bit longer of a timeline.  There is hotel involved in that, a show room.  So that is a more long-term master plan that we have underway."

And with a show room, casino officials expect Parx to become a local destination site with big-name entertainment.

Minelli says one thing they don't have to worry about is land:

"Greenwood Gaming Entertainment, they own over 400 acres here.  So we have Parx casino, there's Philadelphia Park racetrack on the campus.  So there's plenty of room for expansion."

At this point, there's no timetable for when we might see those expanded plans.
