Phila. Teens Graduate from Comcast Computer School

Ten hard-working teens graduated from Philadelphia's inaugural Comcast Digital Connectors program on Wednesday night, aiming to hit two birds with one stone.

KYW's John Ostapkovich reports that it's about the high school students attending an after-school program resulting in Cisco IT Essential Authorization.  Instructor Christina Harrison says she started with 25 students of various tech savy.  Many dropped out but those who remained learned a lot:

"There's an online cirriculum of chapters and units that they are to complete and then they must take a computer apart, part by part, you know, between the RAM, the hard drive, the CD-ROM and such, and then they have to reassemble it and that is part of their final exam."

But an intergral part of the program is community service, 56 hours bridging the digital divide, and Harrison says, even though that wrapped up August 2nd, she and the kids are still getting asked to swat a virus or swap a monitor.
