That kept it ahead of the new action thriller, Salt, starring Angelina Jolie, which took in over $36-million over its debut weekend for a solid second-place finish.

The holdover animated comedy, Despicable Me, placed third with $24-million.

The weekend’s other new mainstream release, the new family comedy, Ramona and Beezus, earned a modest $8-million, good for sixth place.

Overall, it was another active weekend, with industry-wide totals modestly ahead of last year’s pace.
