Philadelphia Man Sentenced in Cheltenham Fur Thefts
A Philadelphia man will spend at least 2½ years in state prison after pleading guilty to breaking into a Cheltenham store last year and stealing nearly $200,000 worth of fur coats.
KYW’s Brad Segall reports that Proseno Wagner has pleaded guilty to a felony burglary charge in connection with the smash-and-grab burglary at the Daeho America store on Old York Road near Cheltenham Avenue.
Prosecutors say the 39-year-old man went into the store with another man, grabbed thirteen coats, and fled.
Montgomery County assistant DA Juliet Faulkner says they had strong evidence against Wagner:
“He was caught on surveillance in the store earlier in the day while the store was open, he was caught on surveillance at night wearing the same clothes, as well as when he was apprehended down in Delaware he fully confessed.”
Authorities didn’t have enough evidence to charge the second man.
Wagner, who has an extensive criminal record, was sentenced to 2½ to seven years in jail followed by two years’ probation. Four of the 13 coats were recovered.
