Phila. Summer School Classes Ending Early Today

The high temperatures are taking their tolls on the city's summer school programs.  All public schools will close early today.

The Philadelphia School District has announced that all the school district and city run summer school programs in public schools will dismiss at 12:30pm this afternoon.
Most of the classes normally end 2:45pm daily.

A school spokesman says only 50 of the 128 school buildings used for summer school programs have air conditioning. The school district says if the heat wave continues, decisions on any early dismissals will be made on a day-to-day basis.
 
Some 50,000 students attend summer school in the city of Philadelphia.
