"Blind Side" Star Visits Philadelphia to Encourage Students

The young actor who costars in a recent, critically acclaimed film was in Philadelphia today to talk to young people and their parents about doing well in school.

Quinton Aaron, 25, who plays Michael Orr in the film The Blind Side, had a message for the School District of Philadelphia's "Parent University," which helps parents support their children to do their best in school.

Aaron says parents can be the best teachers:

"When your kid is young, they're going listen to what you tell them because to them, you're the hero, you're the superman or superwoman.  They're up to learning anything you have to teach them."

Aaron says he didn't grow up like his character Michael, with no family or support.  But he was forced to take over as the head of his household when his mother became ill.

He says it's also important for kids to take the advice of their parents and feel lucky that they have them.
