Philadelphia Activates Heat Line Through Monday Evening
by KYW's Mike Dougherty
It's blazing hot out there and the high humidity is making it feel worse. Temperatures for the month are well above average and that trend is expected to continue into the work week.
The Philadelphia Corporation for Aging has activated the heatline. Chris Gallagher is director of the PCA call center:
Heatline goes by the national weather service declaring a heat warning. And what we do here at Philadelphia Corporation for Aging is we want to make sure that people are aware that there is a heat emergency out there. There are heat related deaths every year and probably 75 percent of those deaths are seniors."
The heatline number is 215-765-9040.
