Students Honored for Perfect Attendance

by KYW's Mike DeNardo

If 80 percent of success is just showing up, four Philadelphia high school seniors are well on their way. They're graduating with perfect attendance for their entire school careers.

"Can we please give them a standing ovation?"

The School District honored four seniors who finished 12 years of school without missing a single day. Dubbiel Sowell (left in photo) is graduating from the High School for the Creative and Performing Arts.:

"A funny story - when I was in sixth grade, I actually went to school with pneumonia. That's how dedicated I am to going to school, because you get to develop a social life. You get to gain education. And I continue to do what I love to do, which is music."

The other three with perfect attendance: Quede Howard from the Franklin Learning Center, and Ronald Chea and Austin Farber of Central High. The District sent them off with a gift for their college careers:

"Here you go, this is a laptop!"
