Top Upcoming Outdoor Concerts Near Philadelphia

With summer half-way over, grabbing tickets to an outdoor concert is a must before the cold weather comes in. Fortunately in Philadelphia, hot weather lasts well into September and plenty of outdoor concerts are available up to that point. See below for some of the best.

The Tedeschi Trucks Band consists of husband and wife duo singer and guitarist Susan Tedeschi and former Allman Brothers Band guitarist Derek Trucks. During this summer, the band will hit up some of the best outdoor concert venues in the country, including the picturesque Mann Center in Fairmount Park on Aug. 2. Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings will join the blues-rock band on stage, a modern band becoming soul legends in their own right.

Steely Dan is a legendary jazz-rock band whose heyday was in the '70s, but is still heavily touring and even won the Album of the Year Grammy for their eighth studio album in 2000. The band is led by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Walter Becker and Donald Fagen and is backed by eight skillful musicians. During the Rockabye Gollie Angel Tour, where they'll play Camden's Susquehanna Bank Center, Steely Dan will be joined by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Elvis Costello, who has made a name for himself during his more than 30 year rock career. The night will be full of popular hits and classic rock.

Billy Joel will play Citizen's Bank Park for the fourth time this August, a feat no other artist has accomplished. Alabama Shakes are playing the pretty Mann Center Sept. 17 with special guests Drive-By Truckers. The Shakes are touring in support of the band's highly acclaimed sophomore effort, "Sound & Color," which placed No .1 on the Billboard Top 100. The band's debut album, 2012's "Girls and Boys," received three Grammy nominations and brought the young group to the national spotlight. The rock band is an exciting live act, featuring powerhouse Brittany Howard on vocals. Drive by Truckers has been around for nearly 20 years and are equally as exciting when the group brings its alternative country sound to the live stage.
