Spring has sprung and it’s time to get out and enjoy life a bit more again. If you have some serious cabin fever and love music, you may want to find some outdoor concerts to enjoy this spring. Philadelphia is always humming with plenty of musical opportunities, here are five of the top options for outdoor concerts this spring.

South Street Spring Festival

The South Street Spring Festival is always a popular event for late spring. For 2016 there are 40 different bands playing music on 3 different stages, and an additional 7 performance areas throughout the 12 city blocks of the festival. Besides music there are over 125 vendors and 35 restaurants participating for this festival to delight your palate. This is a family friendly, all-ages event and it’s free.

Brewerytown Festival

Date: May 30, 2016

Brewerytown is a 35 acre neighborhood which is just north of Fairmount. There are new shops and restaurants and the annual spring festival scheduled the past few years. This year there will feature a free concert with folk band Red Cedar Strings and the guitar trio Dena Miranda and the Mellowtones. Drum circles are encouraged. You will also enjoy handmade art and products from Upcycled goods. Rain date is scheduled for May 31, 2016.

The Roots Picnic

Date: June 4, 2016 12 p.m.

This is the 9th annual Roots Picnic which is a beloved event by R&B lovers from the tri-state area. This year’s concert will include artists such as Leon Bridges, Ilana Glazer, Abbi Jacobson, DMX, Usher and about a dozen more artists. This is an all day event and is held rain or shine. The Festival pier is a large outdoor stage with a beer garden and boardwalk, once you enter you are in for the day, there is no re-entry. Cost is $75 a ticket.

Bare Naked Ladies: Last Summer On Earth Tour

Just before summer begins The Bare Naked ladies will take the stage at the Mann. This concert will also include special guests OMD and Howard Jones. Each ticket purchased will come with a free download of the new album “BNL Rocks Red Rocks.” This is an all-ages show, doors open at 6 and tickets range from $29.50-$72.50. The Mann Center is a mid-sized to large venue that can accommodate over 14,000 visitors. The seating is considered “open air” some seats are under the roof.
