Top Breweries Near Philadelphia

Philadelphia may not be the first thing you think of when breweries are concerned, but nothing washes down a soft pretzel like a good hometown beer. Philadelphia takes pride in everything and if you have ever tried any of the local beer, you will see why. This city boasts a tough crowd, and when it comes to food, sports, and beer, you can't get away with just calling it in. Philadelphia was on GQ's list of "5 Best Beer Cities in America"  in 2012, and Draft Magazine's sixth annual list of the best beer bars in America in 2014. This quaint little eatery known as Earth - Bread + Brewery is all about organic living. The Mt. Airy brew pub is known for promoting sustainability by using local organic farmers. Even the furniture at  Earth - Bread + Brewery is made from reclaimed wood. The owners of this neighborhood haunt are the former owners of the artisan brewery Heavyweight Brewing Co. They expanded their business into a restaurant that serves an excellent seasonal selection on tap.

Flying Fish Brewery is one of the best breweries in the Garden state and it's been the producer of award-winning brews since 1994. The Belgian Abbey Dubbel won a silver medal at the 2008 Great American Beer Festival. Try one of the Flying Fish breweries special beers from their Exit Series, which pays special tribute to Jersey by naming the individual flavors after an exit of the major artery that runs through the state.

Yards Brewing Company is not only a brewer of excellent beer, but an awesome place to visit. The facility produces 24,000 barrels a year, and it's also a great source of entertainment with its pool tables and shuffleboard. The company's original home was a garage in Manayunk, but it now resides in a 26,000 square foot facility in the heart of Fishtown.
