Top 4th Of July Treats In Philly

Barbecues are about as American as baseball, apple pie and the stars and stripes. But this 4th of July weekend, add some zing to your Independence Day eats with these unique, limited-time treats from Philly establishments. - Chelsea Karnash

Blueberry Honey Ice Cream Sandwich

Add this ice cream sammie to add to your Freedom Day feast: Cookie Confidential is celebrating blueberry season all month long with Foam Floaterie's blueberry honey ice cream sandwiched between blueberry lemon tarragon cookies and rolled in "crisp." Also advertised the other day on Cookie Confidential's Twitter feed? The "most American cupcakes we could come up with," including Red White & Blueberry and Banana Bacon Bourbon.

Mini Corn Dogs

Take a stroll down memory lane with limited time mini corn dogs from Hot Diggity. Just five bucks gets you five of these puppies, which you're free to top off as you see fit.

Ice Cream Sandwiches

If you're picturing regular old vanilla ice cream between two chocolate slivers, banish those visions and picture this: Moist, delicious slices of cake bookending unique ice cream flavors like café au lait and honey lavender. Opt for carrot cake with cinnamon vanilla ice cream, banana cake with chocolate walnut ice cream, funfetti cake with honey lavender, or chocolate chip cookie cake with café au lait – all four are delish, and at $3.75 per sandwich, they're pretty much a steal. Can't make it over in time for the 4th? Don't get your American flag panties in a bunch. The refreshing sandos are on the menu throughout the summer.

Red White and Blue Freedom Cocktail

Cool down with this cocktail from Philly's oldest bar. Layers of strawberry daiquiri, pina colada, blue Curacao and rum combine for an alcoholic beverage that will have your taste buds seeing fireworks. Want to make it at home? Click here for the recipe.

Patriotic Philly Fetti Cupcakes

Pick up a dozen of these cakes, and you'll be the belle of the barbecue. Philly Cupcake's patriotic take on the childhood favorite features vanilla funfetti cake piled high with vanilla frosting and topped off with a flurry of red, white and blue sprinkles. Just hurry up and head over; the store is closed on the 4th.
