Philadelphia's Plastic Bag Ban Goes Into Effect Thursday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Get ready for some changes the next time you go shopping in Philadelphia. The city's new plastic bag ban goes into effect Thursday.

It's a bit of a soft launch because businesses have until Oct. 1 to phase out single-use plastic bags.

The city will only give businesses that break the law a warning until April 1. After that, the city will start issuing fines.
