Philadelphia Becomes First School District In Pennsylvania To Invest In Electric School Buses

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The School District of Philadelphia is the first in the state to invest in electric school buses. School officials announced that it purchased five electric zero-emission school buses with a grant from the EPA's Diesel Emissions Reduction Act.

District staff got a chance to view one of the buses Tuesday morning at the Passyunk garage.

The initiative is part of the district's green futures sustainability plan.
