Police: Man Killed, Another Critically Wounded After Gunman Opens Fire During Illegal Drag Race In Port Richmond

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A man is dead and another is in critical condition after a shooting in Philadelphia's Port Richmond neighborhood. The fatal shooting happened around midnight Sunday along the 3800 block of Aramingo Avenue.

Police say they found the 35-year-old victim sitting inside of a BMW suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head, chest and arm. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

A second victim, a 25-year-old man, believed to be the driver of the BMW also suffered gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital where police say he is in critical but stable condition.

According to police, several hundred motorists had congregated in the area to spectate and participate in illegal drag racing. At some point, police say another vehicle pulled up next to the BMW and opened fire.

Police have not made any arrests at this time.
