Judge Puts Safehouse's Proposed Safe Injection Site In Philadelphia On Hold For Now

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Plans to open the United States' first safe injection site in Philadelphia are on hold for now. A judge says the city is too frayed from the coronavirus pandemic and protests over police reform to open the facility.

The group Safehouse first tried to open the facility in South Philadelphia in February before meeting opposition from neighbors.

An appeals court will ultimately decide if the safe injection site is legal.
