Latest Shootings In Trenton Leave 4 Men Dead, 3 Wounded

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — A series of recent shootings in New Jersey's capital city has left four men dead and three others wounded, but authorities do not believe the shootings are connected. The violence comes just weeks after another series of shootings over a four-hour period left three people dead and four wounded. Those shootings spurred Mayor Reed Gusciora to impose an 8 p.m. nightly curfew, and he announced Monday that the curfew would remain in effect indefinitely.

The most recent shooting in Trenton occurred around 4:15 p.m. Thursday, when a man was killed on the 900 block of Parkside Avenue and another was wounded. Their names have not been released.

That shooting came three days after two men were shot and killed in separate shootings. Antwuan Bowens, 44, was gunned down on Daymond Street, while Tayvion Jones, 18, was shot and killed outside his Oakland Street home.

The other fatal shooting occurred Saturday, when 38-year-old Robert Smith was killed on Daymond Street, not far from where Bowens was slain. Two other men were wounded in the shooting that killed Smith.

Motives for all four of those shootings remain under investigation.
