Coronavirus Philadelphia: 'Love From Philly' Virtual Music Festival Benefiting Local Artists Kicks Off Friday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Music certainly has a way of making us all feel better, especially in a time like this. Now hundreds of musicians with ties to Philadelphia are joining together for a great cause.

Starting Friday night, musicians from around the world are coming together for a three-day virtual concert.

Artists include G. Love, John Oates and Lauren Hart.

100% of the proceeds from the event go toward grants for artists and gives them a platform for more exposure.

The outpouring of support for and from theses artists has been phenomenal, with hundreds participating from around the world.

"The response that we have gotten to this event and idea has been incredible. There are lots of friends and colleagues in the community right now who are out of work and don't really know when that work is coming back, so we set out to create something -- a platform to show, not only that they are heard but to create a platform to generate donations and give back," organizer Will Horrocks said.

The three-day virtual event runs through Sunday. You can watch by going to lovefromphilly.live.

CBS3's Jessica Kartalija is hosting an hour of the event so she got a sneak preview of some of the performances and they are fantastic. This is is really going to be a special event.
