'I'm Still Shaking About It': Man Wounded In Shooting At Pet Valu Store In Delaware County

BROOKHAVEN, Pa. (CBS) -- It was a terrifying shopping trip for shoppers in Delaware County on Wednesday when gunfire rung out inside a pet store. Police say a man was wounded and a suspect was arrested in a shooting at the Pet Valu store in Brookhaven.

"About an hour into my shift today, I heard three loud noises," Hand and Stone Massage employee Victoria Anthony said.

At first, Anthony thought it was perhaps something falling at the store next door until a co-worker at Hand and Stone Massage ran up to the front desk.

"A therapist came up and said, 'call the cops, there were gunshots fired at Pet Valu,'" Anthony said.

Brookhaven police say they rushed to the Pet Valu on Edgemont Avenue shortly after 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police say the victim sustained a graze wound to a lower extremity and is in stable condition at a local hospital.

A suspect has been detained and a firearm was recovered at the scene.

"Two guys had got into a fight," Anthony said. "One guy pulled a gun on another."

Both Pet Value and Sport Clips Haircuts of Brookhaven closed after the shooting.

Investigators could be seen inside Pet Valu collecting evidence.

"It did pop into my head that there was a shooting because that is what goes on in this world, but I thought -- it couldn't be and lo and behold that's what it was," shopper Michelle Mullen said.

Mullen pulled up to the shopping plaza moments after the incident with police tape surrounding the store.

"It's sad. You just don't think it's going to happen around you and it does," Mullen said.

"I'm still shaking about it. It's not something you think is going to happen to you or near you," Anthony said.

Police say there is no further threat to the public.
