Rutgers University Warning Of Aggressive Coyote That Bit Man Near Campus

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) -- Rutgers University officials in New Jersey are warning students there may be an aggressive coyote in the area that bit someone walking near campus. The university's police department posted on Facebook Thursday evening that they are investigating.

They said a man said he was walking on the footpath of Avenue E near Hospital Road when a coyote ran out from the trees and bit him around 4 am. Thursday. It happened in the area of Rutgers Preserve on the Livingston campus in New Brunswick.

The victim was treated at a hospital and released.

Patrols have been increased in the area.

Rutgers police is reminding people to avoid contact with stray or wild animals.
