Philadelphia GOP Chairman Resigns After Historic Election Defeats

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The head of Philadelphia's Republican Party is stepping down. Michael Meehan announced on Saturday that he's resigning as chairman effective Tuesday.

This week, the Philadelphia GOP experienced historic election defeats, losing one of two seats on city council dedicated to the minority party.

Republicans held those seats for generations.
