US Coast Guard: Crew Member Flown To Medical Aid From Cruise Ship Off Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) -- The U.S. Coast Guard has flown a 44-year-old crew member from a cruise ship off Atlantic City to get medical attention. Officials say personnel aboard the cruise ship Mein Schiff, which was about 20 nautical miles (37 kilometers) east of Atlantic City, reported at 10:20 a.m. Sunday that a crew member had abdominal pain and needed medical attention.

Delaware Bay sector Coast Guard personnel launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, and the crew then hoisted the man aboard the helicopter to the air station, where emergency medical services personnel were waiting.

Lt. Conor Lee said in a news release that the man couldn't be taken directly to the hospital helipad due to poor weather conditions.
