23-Year-Old Woman Dies After Being Shot Multiple Times In Head, Chest In Front Of Her North Philadelphia Home
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say a 23-year-old woman has died after being shot multiple times in her head and chest Tuesday evening. The shooting occurred on the 2500 block of North 9th Street in North Philadelphia just before 9:30 p.m.
Family members told police the victim was sitting on the steps of her home when the shots rang out.
"At this time, due to the fact that we found the ballistic evidence hundreds of feet away from where the victim was sitting on her steps, we are not sure she was the intended target or she was struck by stray gunfire," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
Police say the woman was transported to Temple University Hospital and was pronounced dead at 9:46 p.m.
No arrests have been made at this time. An investigation continues.
