Vegetarians, Vegans At Higher Risk Of Stroke, Researchers Find

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Adopting a vegetarian, vegan or fish diet may have mixed health benefits. British researchers found those diets resulted in a lower risk of coronary heart disease, but led to a higher risk of stroke.

It's unclear why the researchers found the higher stroke risk in vegetarians, but they suggest very low cholesterol levels or very low levels of some nutrients like B-12 could have been factors.
