Driver Charged Following Multi-Vehicle Accident On I-495 In Claymont, Delaware
CLAYMONT, Del. (CBS) -- A 21-year-old man has been charged following a multi-vehicle accident that closed a portion of I-495 in Claymont, Delaware for a period of time on Friday. The three-vehicle accident happened around 10:15 a.m., on I-495 southbound, just south of Philadelphia Pike.
Delaware State Police say Muammer Macara, of Bear, was driving his 2013 Acura RSX southbound on I-495 at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic, when he rear-ended a 2016 Kia Soul, being driving by a 73-year-old Philadelphia woman.
Following the impact, Macara's Acura went airborne and collided with a 2005 Chevy Cobalt, being driven by a 59-year-old Philadelphia woman. The crash caused Macara to be ejected from his vehicle.
He was transported to Christiana Hospital and is in serious condition.
The 73-year-old woman was transported to Christiana for minor injuries, and the 59-year-old woman was not injured.
Macara has been charged with aggressive driving and other related charges.
I-495 southbound was closed for about two hours.
