City Of Philadelphia Designates March 14 As 'Meek Mill Day'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Hip-hop star Meek Mill is getting his own day in the City of Brotherly Love! The city has designated March 14 as "Meek Mill Day."

Meek Mill, Jay-Z Launch New Criminal Justice Reform Organization 

City Council President Darrell Clarke made the announcement during Thursday morning's city council meeting.

Meek Mill Offers Advice To Job Seekers At Pennsylvania Convention Center 

Mill is being lauded for his contributions as a musical artist and criminal justice reform advocate.

"The one time that my City of Philadelphia showed me support was the one time I came out of prison and I want to show the support back and do it for the people that actually stood up for me. That means a lot," said Mill.

Meek Mill Hosts Toy Giveaway For Over 3,000 Children In Philadelphia Area 

State Sen. Sharif Street also honored Meek with a state level proclamation.

The weekend of March 15 through March 17 has been designated as "Meek Mill Weekend."

Mill served time in prison for violating probation, prompting a nationwide debate about the justice system and the fairness of sentencing standards.
