Mural Honoring Fallen Sgt. Robert Wilson III Unveiled In Strawberry Mansion

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A mural honoring fallen Philadelphia Police Sgt. Robert Wilson III was unveiled on Thursday.
The mural dedication took place at 29th Street and Ridge Avenue at 12:30 p.m.
Wilson was killed in the line of duty when he walked in on an attempted robbery at a North Philadelphia Game Stop in 2015.
Authorities arrested Ramone Williams and Carlton Hipps and charged them with murder. Authorities say both men are seen on surveillance video shooting Wilson inside the store. Both men are awaiting trial.
Constance Wilson, the fallen officer's grandmother said, "We appreciate the fact that they continue to remember him."
She added, "We remember him everyday of course, every minute of the day."
Commissioner Richard Ross of the Philadelphia Police Department said of the mural that it's "truly meaningful."
Ross said, "This is where he spent his career and this is where the people throughout the city saw him each and every day."
Jane Golden of the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program feels the mural is more than just an art honoring a fallen hero.
"This mural lives on as an icon and a beacon, and a tremendous ongoing source of pride and inspiration; and there is no doubt about that," she said.
Philadelphia Council President Darrell L. Clark said, "A lot of people honored him, loved him for the work that he did."
The older sister of the late officer, Shaki'ra Wilson-Burroughs said the following about the new mural: "I love it.The smirk he makes a little bit, it's him."
She added, "It still brings out who my brother was and what he stood for."
