Police: SEPTA Driver Shot On Way To Work During Attempted Robbery

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A SEPTA driver was shot on his way to work in Philadelphia's Strawberry Mansion section, early Tuesday morning.

It happened on the 3100 block of Ridge Avenue just before 4 a.m.

Police tell Eyewitness News the 47-year-old victim was walking to catch a bus to work when he was approached by the suspect, who announced it was a robbery.

The victim was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The suspect was seen fleeing eastbound on Susquehanna from Ridge. The suspect is described as black male, in his late 20's, early 30's with a slender build and was last seen wearing a black hoody and blue jeans.

No arrests have been made.
