Woman Dead, 2 Children Injured After Car Collides With SEPTA Trolley In Northern Liberties

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- One woman is dead and two children are injured after a car collided with a SEPTA trolley in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon.

SEPTA says the car hit the trolley around 4:10 p.m. on the 400 block of West Girard Avenue.

Police say a 36-year-old woman driving a black Chevy Prism with two young girls was traveling westbound on Girard Avenue and struck the Route 15 trolley going eastbound.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 4- to 7-month-old child suffered minor injuries and was transported to Hahnemann Hospital in stable condition. The 3- to 4-year-old girl was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children with scratches and a possible concussion. Her condition is not known.

Girard Avenue was closed in both directions while the crash was being investigated.

It is unclear as of now what caused the accident.
