2 Men Accused Of Fleeing Crash That Killed Softball Player

CLAYSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Two men have been accused of fleeing an all-terrain vehicle crash that killed a Pennsylvania high school standout softball player and leaving her body in the road for hours.

State police say 18-year-old Mikayla Focht, of Duncansville, was killed when the ATV she was riding struck several deer and threw her and the driver in April. A coroner determined she died instantly.

Police say Jacob Helsel ran over Focht with his Jeep after she fell.

Helsel was charged Wednesday with causing an accident involving death. ATV driver Trenton Bilak was charged in May with homicide by vehicle. Their lawyers can't be reached for comment.

Focht was a Hollidaysburg Area Senior High shortstop. She was named to the Pennsylvania Softball Coaches Association all-state team her junior year and intended to play softball for Saint Francis University this fall.
