Sleeping Man Shot In Delaware County

LINWOOD, Pa. (CBS) -- Police say a Delaware County man managed to leave his house to get help after someone shot him in his sleep.

Authorities are now searching for a suspect and motive.

Chopper 3 was over the scene of the shooting on the 1400 block of Summit Road in Linwood.

A trail of bloody footprints stretches out the front door and down the steps.

The victim, a man in his early 20s, was rushed to an area hospital.

Police said he is in critical condition.

The shooting happened around 5:30 Wednesday morning.

Neighbors tell CBS 3 that police interviewed them. Many said they didn't hear any gunshots. They add, unfortunately this corner area has had some problems.

Mike says, "I came outside and the cop got all my information and everything. This corner here, I can tell you the cops get called a lot, there's a lot of fights, drinking, stuff like that."

No arrests have been made at this time.
