Mother, Boyfriend Charged In "Rape-Murder Fantasy" Of Montco Teen

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A mother and her boyfriend have been charged in the death of the woman's 14-year-old adopted daughter from Abington Township, Montgomery County.

Authorities have charged 41-year-old Sara Packer and 44-year-old Patrick Sullivan with the gruesome murder of Grace Packer, the young girl who was reported missing by her mother and whose dismembered body was later found on Halloween by two hunters in Bear Creek Township, Luzerne County.

Investigators say Sullivan conspired with Sara Packer to kidnap, rape, and murder the teen. Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub says it was sick rape-murder fantasy that became reality.

"She was physically assaulted, she was punched and then she was tied up, hog-tied and sexually molested," said Weintraub. "She was raped and then she was poisoned with medication and left for dead."

According to authorities, Sullivan and Sarah Packer began planning the murder in the fall of 2015. They executed the plan July 8. Grace's mother reported her missing the next day, but her later actions raised suspicions of investigators.

A break in the case came December 30 when Sullivan attempted suicide and after days in the hospital he confessed to hospital staff.

Sullivan has been charged with kidnapping, rape, murder and a slew of related offenses in connection with Packer's death.

Packer has also been charged with murder, kidnapping, assault and related offenses.

Weintraub says young Grace was a "disposable child" to the suspects, but she will not be forgotten.

"Who will now speak for Grace Packer? We will," the district attorney said. "We are not going anywhere."
