Victims Of Gun Violence Remembered At Center City Vigil On Anniversary Of Sandy Hook Shooting

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There were vigils across the country Wednesday, including in Philadelphia marking the 4th anniversary of the Sandy Hook mass shooting. One of the those vigils took place at Broad Street Ministries in Center City.

There was prayer and song at the vigil for not only those who lost their lives during the mass shooting, but for all victims of gun violence.

There were also words of inspiration remembering the victims, survivors and pledges to do more in the fight to end the crisis in this country.

Among the speakers was Starr Bright, a veterinarian who was shot 25-years-ago inside a rural Chester County church.

"I want people to understand that many people think that this would never happen to them," Bright told the crowd. "I certainly never thought that this would happen to me. This could happen to anyone."

Congressman Dwight Evans was also at the vigil pledging his support.

"I'm here to pray for peace, but I'm also here to be prepared to work," Evans said. "Whatever role you want me to play, whatever role you need me to play, whatever avenue I need to be a part of."
