4 Hospitalized After Train Hits Car In Camden

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS)—Four people were hospitalized on Wednesday after their vehicle was struck by a train in Camden.

It happened around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday at Federal Street and River Avenue.

New Jersey Transit officials say the gates were down at the railroad crossing and the driver tried to maneuver through the gates when the train slammed into the car.

Authorities say four people in the car were taken to the hospital, one of them is being treated for minor to the chest and elbow.

There were three people on the River Line train but they were not hurt.

The Riverline is running now. It had to be shutdown between 36th Street and the Walter Rand Transportation Center for about 45 minutes, but the trains are running again.

New Jersey Transit officials say the driver was issued a summons for disregarding a railroad crossing signal.
