PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — An explosion at a PECO station has left a Center City street white with foam and has left thousands without power.

Authorities say several 911 calls were received around 1 p.m. for reports of explosion sounds coming from the PECO Waverly Sub Station on the 400 block of South Juniper Street near Lombard. When crews arrived to the scene, they determined the transformer blew and the fire suppression system released a foam substance that began to blanket the street.
