What's Cooking on 1060: 'Viva Cuba'

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A local Cuban restaurant is recognizing the death of Fidel Castro with drink specials until his funeral on Sunday.

Raissa Crousillat, general manager of Cuba Libre restaurant in Old City, says they have extended their happy hour into the weekend due to the historical nature of Fidel Castro's death.

"We recognize how important this event is to the Cuban community, Cuban people."

And with a special code word, you can score a free drink.

"Come join us for happy hour, 5-7pm. Just mention the words "Viva Cuba," which literally stands for "Long Live Cuba" and you'll get a free 'Cuba Libre,' a rum and coke, from 5-7pm at the bars."

The special ends this weekend.

"This special will be running all through Sunday December 4th, which is the funeral for Fidel Castro."

Speaking of Castro's funeral.

"We will be showing it at the bars on our televisions."

Crousillat says Castro's death seems to have inspired an interest in Cuban cuisine this week.

"We've seen an increase of people at the bar, a lot of people actually with Cuban flags."

She says a lot of people are unfamiliar with this type of food.

"It's a mix of Asian, Latin, Caribbean -- all these different flavors."

As for Sunday, folks at the restaurant think more people than usual will come out to eat and drink.

"We have a full staff, we're expecting a good crowd to come out so we're prepared for anything that may happen."
